No, it is not recommended to shower while wearing an ear wick because water can:
❌ Reduce effectiveness of the medication.
❌ Cause further irritation or worsen the infection.
❌ Dislodge the ear wick prematurely before treatment is complete.
If you must shower, follow these precautions:
✔️ Use a waterproof earplug – Silicone or moldable earplugs work best.
✔️ Cover your ear with cotton & petroleum jelly – Place a cotton ball coated in petroleum jelly inside the outer ear to block water.
✔️ Tilt your head away from water – Avoid direct water contact.
✔️ Use a shower cap – Helps protect your ear from splashes.
🚨 If water gets in, apply extra ear drops to re-saturate the wick and contact your doctor if irritation occurs.
