Step-by-Step Ear Wick Insertion
1. Position the Patient
- Have the patient tilt their head with the affected ear facing up.
- Ensure they are comfortable and explain the procedure to minimize anxiety.
2. Prepare the Ear Wick
- Soak the compressed ear wick in the prescribed antibiotic/steroid ear drops to soften it.
- This makes insertion easier and reduces discomfort.
3. Insert the Ear Wick
- Using sterile forceps, carefully grasp the tip of the ear wick.
- Gently insert it into the swollen ear canal until it reaches the affected area.
- Avoid forcing it in—let it expand naturally as it absorbs fluid.
4. Saturate the Wick with Medication
- Once inserted, apply additional ear drops to fully saturate the wick.

5. Patient Instructions

6. Wick Removal
